Disc brake conversion MC pushrod question

I converted over from 4 wheel drums to front discs on my 70 using factory 70 mustang spindles, calipers, etc. My dad was the one who installed the new master cylinder which I have just now been made aware does not have a push rod installed. I have not been able to find a replacement from the local parts stores and all the ones I see listed on the Mustang parts suppliers websites talk about using these adjustable push rods for conversions from power to non-power or vice versa. I am not running a booster though so before I spend the $50 I wanted to see what my options were.

As I understand it he broke the original push rod when he was trying to get it out of the MC (how I am not entirely sure). So do I have any options other than shelling out the $50 for one of those PB conversation adjustable ones?

Buy the parts from McMaster-Carr (or equal) and make it for less. I have an adj rod on my MC and it's nice to be able to adjust it, just right.
