Distributor gasket for a roller block 302 distributor?

I was told by someone that I needed a gasket on my distributor where it goes into the block. There are a couple o rings around the distributor that I thought were used for sealing it but I am not sure. NAPA could not find a gasket in their catalog. Is there a gasket I should put down before installing the distributor?

You'll find them next to the muffler bearings and blinker fluid.

:lol :lol :lol
You Whoever told you that needs to put down the crack pipe and step away...you use a whole tube of silicone sealant.

OK Pete, I've been insulted. Whatever did I do to you for such an insult?!? I didn't think such a term was allowed to be used outside of the VGOFL board. :craz :craz

BTW...I challenge you to a duel and my weapon of choice is a beatup old fender and a gallon of bondo :lol :lol

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. The source I got the info from has been proven time and time again to be less than reliable. Following his guidance has caused me a couple blunders a long the way. :po

I just figured that kind of info came from nick....did it come from you? lol

As for the duel, I use Great Stuff and bondo to BUILD the fender.......following nick's examples.

In defense of your buddy, a LOT of earlier engines DID use a gasket underneath the base of the distributor, just not your engine.

Thanks for the info Dave. He is pretty old school as far as his knowledge goes and not much of a Ford guy.

I wonder if it would work if you had a leaky distributor gasket and you took a bunch of :nick and sprayed it around the base of the distributor real thick like? Would that keep the oil from leaking? Wonder if anybody would even notice if you just painted the :nick ford blue?
