Do I have the right coil springs??

I am trying to diagnose why the front of my 65 Conv seems to be lowering. I first noticed the left side was a bit lower, then after measuring, both corners seemed lower than they should, with the left side the worst.

So I went to jack up the left side to take off the wheel to inspect the arms and spring to look for the obvious.

I couldn't get my floor jack under the rail where I have always done so before..Weird.

I had to jack in front of the wheel. I got the wheel/tire off and looked around. With weight on, I measured appx 12" center of hub to fender arch. after jacking, with the arms fully extended, I measured 17". All looked great. The only thing that could be the cause is a weak spring.

The coil wire diameter measures .588". I can't measure the relaxed length with it installed.

Does anyone know what this wire size translates to? I'm wondering if the coil may be defective to relax so much that I can't get a jack under the frame rail.

Ideas anyone. Any suggestions on the right coils to order that may be stiffer? The coils I have should be 8090 (MU # CS8090). Any way to verify this with my measurements?

Thanks!

Okay, with a little digging:

According to :

http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=MOOG-8088

I have 8088 springs (with 259 spring rate).

What I ordered was:

http://www.moog-suspension-parts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=MOOG-8090

with spring rate of 291 pounds.

Would this be the main cause??

I'm thinking of ordering MOOG 8090 coils of Amazon (will get here fast). Anyone have experience with MOOG coils? Is there a better MOOG coil part number to order? Another option is the Mustangs Plus "Grab-A-Trak® GT/GT350" coils, however I do not have any information on spring rate etc..

Any information would be appreciated. I need to order soon to get my car on the road.

Thanks

Maybe shims fell out?

No, all seems to be there and everything is tight. I didn't think about this before, but I've been slowly reinstalling the interior over the last few weeks. Door panels, seats etc. Perhaps the weaker springs just aren't cutting it.

To make a long story short, I had the same problem awhile back and it turned out to be the lower control arms. I replaced them and the height problem was fixed although it then sat too high. Installed new coil springs and everything is okay.
