for the first time in 60 years, 'Doc' only the second B-29 on the planet took flight back in July.

A tremendous effort by all involved.

Doc

How cool of a Country do we live in where Freedom allows this to occur?

Love those old war birds. Glad that there is one more in the air for people to see. Damn Cool !!

Both of the only two flightworthy B-29s on the planet were bombing range targets and were saved. Fifi is the name of the gent's wife who saved the plane. Doc is one of 8 B-29s. They were all named after the 7 dwarves, and Snow White. Doc is the only one left of that group.

Interesting.

Yep. Followed the restoration closely, watched the engine starts, and missed the first flight live, because I was in the air myself, but I watched the video.

I was at Oshkosh this year and saw Fifi do a go around, then land. Seen a few times over Illinois on the way there. I should go down to Salinas if its still there.

I've ridden in the nose gunner compartment in "Yellow Rose," the Commemorative Airforce B25, and it was a very cool ride. It's a completely different sensation up there.

You were in Oshkosh this year. I thought I smelled something strange in the air.

My store is right across the highway from eaa.

Two B-25s at the Confederate Air Force in Camarillo. One of them is a Marine aircraft. The fact all of these volunteers have brought these planes back to life is great. Thank you all so we can see and remember Freedom is not Free.

You'll get in trouble for calling them the Confederate Air Force these days. That hurts certain people feelings. They had an official name change.
