Domain Name Sale Update

I guess the other company is serious because they have come back and said they would pay $10,000 for my domain name. I have decided to sell it and already have obtained www.aztlanarchaeology.com for our new website. I doubt if I'll ever get a better offer than this and the money would come in handy right now.

Just how do I do this? What is the best way to handle payment and how do I actually transfer the domain name once I have secure payment? Do I just contact the company where I registered the domain name?

Would you like the name of my Nigerian Escrow Company? If so...let me know.

Good decision!

Do not transfer anything until you are sure every cent cleared the bank completely(10-14 days). If they are uncomfortable paying you completely upfront BEFORE the transfer is official, I would recommend using an Escrowing company, just not Nigerians. Find someone legit :)

Your Registrar and the Registrar of the purchaser will have to coordinate to handle the transfer.

Calling your registrar first to find out their process is a good idea.

Best of luck! Hope it works out!

Can't help with the turnover, but you did a good job! Congrats on the sale :pbj

Thanks Steve, that article is perfect! My domain name is registered with Network Solutions, so I'll start with them.

Laurie states it in the original thread....like doofus said, keep up.

Hmmmm...compliment or cut down. GOnna have to put this one in the memory banks for possible future use. :lol

Take the $10k.

I have sold two, one for $2,200 and one for $500. The $2,200 the guy had a lawyer do the deal and he tried to write terms I didn't like. I am not a lawyer but can play one especially from a contract review perspective. I re-wrote all the terms because they irritated me. In the end I bet his law firm fees were way more than the price they paid. The law firm held the check until the deal cleared. It was a joke!!!

The $500 one I literally mailed the forms signed by me to him COD.

In the end you need the cash before transferring the domain.

You can get a transfer code from network solutions and that is what they will need to make the change on their end.

NS is easy to deal with on this. I did it with three domains. The hard part is getting the cash. You need to get clear payment, ie a certified check or a wire prior to releasing your interest in the domain. I would go with a wire transfer to your bank and then release the domain after funds have cleared.

I like the idea of setting up an empty account for the money transfer. I'm going to talk to my banker tomorrow and see what can be done.
