Dual vacuum advance distributor

I have a '71 351 w. The motor came with a DVA dist. Can this be replaced with a single vacuum advance? I'm using this setup just to break in and tune a rebuild.I plan on upgrading shortly. If not,can the vacuum lines be T'ed together and be used to tweak the motor?

Yes, it can be replaced with a single vac. setup.

Do not tee them together. One line is for the normal vac. advance operation....the other is for a vac. signal for when you let off the gas. It is an emissions thing... That one can be disconnected and capped on the engine side. Then tune things the normal way.

What AZPete said. One port is vacuum advance, the other is vacuum retard. The advance will be at the end of the canister, and the retard off the side. You can simply cap off the side one, but don't try to tie them together.
