Edelbrock Carb - Electric or Manual Choke

Over the long haul, how dependable are the electric chokes on Edelbrock Carbs??? For the occassional driver, do they have dependable service or would you guys reccomend a manual???

I have a 1406 with electric choke and I have been running it for 12yrs, no problems to report. Mostly 25-30 mile trips. Or in town use, but there have been a couple 700 mile road trips in a single day between Ft Collins CO and Bismark ND

had mine (electric choke) for almost 13 yrs with no problems at all. its on my p/u which gets about the same usage as phlegm describes & has sat at times for 6 months without use but fires right up when i do drive it.

meant to add, i've had three of these carbs & they have all been consistently reliable...

Never a problem with any electric choke unless I caused it myself...lol The only way to go....

I've had the 1406 on my '66 for many years and never a problem...Well, except for the time Midlife put his hands on my car and it p*ssed antifreeze all over his driveway and all the way home...lol

The electric choke is the ONLY thing that works right on mine. Good thing it's on my POC Chebbie Truck and not my Mustang.
