Didn't win anything of course, but it was fun and I could see myself going to more just to hang out and chat with other folks. :vic

There were 4 cars there for under construction. All but mine got a trophy. :lol

And of course... pictures of the cars!

yeah, your car looks pretty good in the picture!
I like that King Cobra.
That Judge is probably pretty awesome but I think it's tacky when people display a car with a bizzilion trophy's.

The owners of the judge got a few trophy's today to add to that collection they had displayed. One of them was 1st place for longest distance traveled. They drove up from San Antonio. :amaz

+1. Nice red coupe.

I don't get the trophy display either, maybe some are influenced by it and thus it "breeds" other awards, but I agree it's tacky.

The '66 looks good out there Kat. Nice to win but the main thing is to learn and have fun. This time you learned about the sun.....lol

I feel the trophies are not done in good taste either. I have seen where poor quality judges are influenced to take an easy route and just give the awards to those that have already won. Also, those that display like that often pitch a fit when they do not win again. Not saying all are like that, but I have seen many.....

It was fun. I mainly went to hang out with my car club folks and do something other than sitting in the house. I didn't care I didn't get anything but the clubs Ford guy (the one I got the export brace from - owner of the 66 blue w/white vinyl top) was mad because I didn't get anything. :lol

Next time, I will have a tent. I was only in the sun for maybe a couple hours. Rest of the day I spent hiding under other tents. Yet my face is lobster red and I have one awesome farmers tan on my arms now. :lol

Glad you had fun, trophies are overrated. Thanks for the pics. I really want a 5 window like the yellow one. Suppose he'd trade for a half done 68 convertible?

I doubt it! :craz

I thought mine looked good but I'm bia's. :lol

Oh.. I forgot to get a picture of it as it showed up later in the day. It was a Red 65 Mustang owned by Patrick Mahoney of the Houston Mustang Club. He was a nice guy to talk to. Gave me a little card about his stang with his website.

http://mahoney.us/Mustang/Mustang.html

Turns out he took his 65 to Classic Collision & Restoration right here in Bryan TX. Props to Doug and his shop. That mustang was AMAZING.

Thanks Kat! We put a lot of work into that car.

I drove it to his house Friday and it was very neat to drive one so original. It didn't squeak, rattle, or have any wind noise. It also has the best underdash a/c that I have ever felt. It was over 100* outside when I drove it and I had to turn the fan down to low because it was cold in the car!

His website is a pretty good testament to the kind of work we do at Classic.

Entered my first car show

Had a good time at the Bryan Ole School Car Club Show this past weekend.
Yep I have the the 65 red on red Mustang that Doug at Classic Restoration did. His work is superb. If you want you car done right he is the guy. Doug speaks and thinks Mustang. It took about three months and I visited every week. Thought I might drive him nuts but he was always glad to show and tell me what they had done since my last visit and what they would be doing next.

Had a portrait done when I took delivery and attached here of Doug and his employees in front of their show with my Mustang.

I've seen that picture before! It's hanging up in the office at the shop. I remember seeing it and saying one day mine will be that pretty. Who knows, once I get to the point of having to do body work I might go bug them over at Classic Restoration just to save my sanity. :craz

When Doug finished working on the car I had a professional photographer come and take pictures. I especially wanted a picture of everyone who had worked on my Mustang. So I had the picture enlarged and framed and gave it to Doug. I go the car back late November and after getting the pictures I ordered 5X7s for everyone working at Classic with Doug for Christmas. I think the workers really appreciated the framed picture, because when I come by Classic they all greet me and ask how 'our' Mustang is doing.

I think Doug is the go to guy on Mustang restoration. I know if I get another classic car I will take it to Doug if any work is needed.

When I looked over your car I saw a couple of things that can make a big difference in how it looks. Like new bumpers. Johns Mustang has front and rear for about $100 each. Very reasonable and a lot cheaper than having them re chromed. ($250+ each) Although not body work a good buffer would bring back a shine. Send your pictures to Mothers or Meguiar's and ask their advise on what product to use in bring back a shine. They have very helpful people who are knowledgeable about restoring older paint jobs and a wide range of products.

I have new front and rear bumpers, I just haven't put them on yet. I also have carpet that is not installed yet either. Been lazy when it comes to cosmetics. :lol I still have stuff like brakes and suspension to do, as well as getting the battery back in the engine and secured.

I know the Kolache Festival & Car show is coming up September 11th, and I was half tempted to skip to some simple and easy cosmetic fixes before that show in case I decided to drive my mustang out there. I tried buffing the heck out of the mustang once and it didn't seem to do anything. I was almost tempted to try and wet sand but not sure if that would work or not as dull as the paint is.

I'll have to send some pictures to Mothers and Meguirs to see if they can maybe recommend a product that might do something to give shine.
