The family is on a mini vacation for the last half of this week to have some faimly time in San Francisco. We stopped at K1 Speed in Santa Clara ( http://www.k1speed.com/santa-clara-location.html ) on the way up, we've never been at this track before. We ran at the Anaheim ( http://www.k1speed.com/anaheim-location.html ) track late last year when we were at Disneyland. We had a great time there so we thought we'd give this track a try.
The Santa Clara track has a different surface than the Anaheim track so the cars were a little slippery by comparison. It's a different course layout at each location and this one was a lot of fun. We got some $25 for two race coupons on line before we left.
Ermalyn ran down all the kids in her group and pulled away. I was so proud. She has a good feel for the cars and is learning the line around the tracks. The kids cars are a lot slower, she had if floored the whole time, so we may move her up into the adult group next time out. The boys were sure wondering how a girl got by them so easily.
They asked at my drivers meeting who had been there before and the other drivers had all ran at the track. I was by far largest person at the track today plus I had never ran at this location before so they put me last in line for the run group. I ran down the other folks and passed them in turn. The look on their faces was priceless. Along with getting buy the regulars, I got within 1.5sec. of the track record for this month.
I think this would make a nice event for any group of gearheads ( read Nor-Cal Stangfixers ). Just before we ran, they had a group of 25 corporate employees out for some bonding time. The head cheese just handed over the credit card at the end of the run group. He even bought a gift pass for the first three place finishers. Cool boss !
If any of you have one of these near you, give it a try, it's a blast. The cars are pretty quick for electric cars and they handle pretty good after you heat up the tires. They have coupons on line most of the time to save a few bucks.
They just opened up a new location in San Fancisco ( http://www.k1speed.com/san-francisco-location.html ) that we weren't going to visit but we may have to give it a try. Shari just happened to printed off a large batch of those $25 coupons LOL.
