was just sitting here when i hear this loud pop & the wireless mouse jolts out of my hand. heard a sizzling noise in the mouse, pulled the batteries out & it was one of the batteries sizzling so took it outside & put it on the patio. geez, all i need is something else that can cause a fire around here :hide

that reminds me of a story.
I had bought a used motor home, it was sitting in the driveway and I was sweeping or something. I had my back to it. I heard a loud bang behind me, turned around and saw some dust (looked like smoke at first). I swore someone was shooting at me! It was the outside rear tire (dually) blown out. The tread flew up in the wheel well and smacked the metal. It scared the crap out of me until I realized what had happened!
Your insurance guy would really be suspicious if your new shop burnt down because of your mouse!

I've never seen a AAA battery explode but the car battery in my old Nissan 240SX blew up one time.

I got in it one evening, pushed the clutch, turned the key and boom.

Literally felt a shock wave that seemed to push my hood up a little like someone had fired a very large caliber riffle.

When investigating what happened the batter had a big crack down the side of it.

I've always been very thankful the hood was down and no one was standing over the battery with a set of jumper cables or anything of that nature.

Wha? You ask if we've ever seen a AAA battery explode, yet you don't supply any pics?

a few weeks ago I was trailering a car with my F150 back from Louisville KY. My wife was following me in the 67. She said she smelled burning rubber. I heard a POP and thought I blew a trailer tire. We stopped but couldn't find anything. Just the other night I was taking the spare off the truck (another story) and found that it had a hole melted in it. Now we know what the smell was. Glad it didn't catch the gas tank on fire!

the tail pipe had a hole in it right were it aimed at the tire. The load of pulling the trailer/car must have increased the heat from the exhaust...
