Exhaust Manifolds

I am getting ready to take the exhaust manifolds off of my car to refurbish them. It looks like a pretty straightforward job, and the manifolds don't look very hard to remove.

My question is because as we all know, easy, straightforward jobs rarely work out that way. Any thoughts or advice before I start? Thanks...Jeff

Unless your bolts / nuts are fairly new, I'd use only 6 point sockets - it really saves rounding off the edges of rusty fastners, and the associated loss of composure :craz

Spray the bolts at the end where the doughnut gasket is with penetrating oil a few hours before you start. Those are the hard ones. Hard to get to and stuck! This is a recipe for a new thread asking how to get them off.

Be careful around your spark plugs and have some new ones handy. I used to remove them, but when I have some crap go down the holes once I just buy new ones and wait for the usual broken one or two.
