Facebook ?

I started on Facebook at the suggestion of a cousin, as a way to reconnect family. It worked great for about the first six months with everyone sharing stories and pictures. I guess making up for 30+ years just doesn't take that long, because now all I see when I logon are updates on their progress with one game or another...

With some people, that's all you ever see for their updates. The funny part is that most of these things, as a player, give you the "option" to update or not. Looks like most of them think it's important for you to know their every move in Farmville.

You can just set these people to "Hide" their updates, if that's all they're sending out. Or unfriend them....
 
I got on a while back to keep track of family and friends. Then it turned into a update happy POS. I could care less when someone ddi on farmville, yoville, or whatever game they play. And the new layout and privacy settings are ridiculous.
 
You can also hide the announcements from any given app without hiding the person (so like my best friend, who is a mafia wars fool, I don't want to hide everything he says, just mafia wars)

When someone posts mafia wars or farmville garbage, hover over their post and a little "x" will show up. Click that and it'll ask if you want to hide the person or hide the app. I like to hide the app, because I have so many friends sucked into that stupid crap.

And yeah, don't get sucked in. It's :gobp
 
IMO, facebook is waaaaaay past :ga and has definitely reached :gobp status.

Phone and email is much better for keeping in touch with friends and family.
 
As :ga as they may be, I was addicted to them for while. Fun little flash games to past the time. But they get old quick. Kinda like Mid. :)
