Fall Cruising in Kentucky

It's been quite nice, or almost hot this fall.
I am in town this week and enjoying the weather. My son called me, actually texted me first. He has a college friend with a 66 Galaxy. His friend asked him if he wanted to go cruising after class, he knew of some cool places to go. So my son told me about it. I invited myself to come along. His buddy was okay with it. So we went up by Mammoth Cave and crossed the Green river on a ferry. Drove over Nolin Dam. Then drove along the Cumberland Plateau. It was a lot of fun.

Nice scenery. Looks like fun.

It's been pretty warm here too. Mid 60s this week. Not bad for November in Wisconsin.

The only problem is I'm 3 hours away from my car working out of town all week! As soon as I get home it'll probably start snowing!

that is how it goes up there, right from summer to winter!

Always liked the 66 Galaxies. Nice design. My cousin had one and he let me drive it when I was 13 (in South Dakota). I almost put it in a ditch.

you got that truck running yet?

I grew up in Illinois but even there my dad used to take me out on country roads and let me drive. I was probably 14 when he started teaching me.
Anyway, I too like the Galaxy's, My Uncle had a 65 for a long time. Then a 69 and later a 70. All very cool

Are you sure you needed a ferry to get across that little creek? Bet you coulda Dukes of Hazzard-ed it...

My parents had a 68 Country Squire. White with a black interior. I witnessed it going 120+ mph as my dad drove me home from accordion lessons (he had to go to the bathroom). That car. Had an ice cold a/c system n a 390.

lol, yeah I was thinking the same thing when I saw it! I guess the river is quite low due to the "drought"

that would be a great car to have today! My grandfather had a 68 more door with a 390. It was gold color. Even with 4 doors it was a cool car.
