Fan Spacer length modified.....

I'm installing a Northern aluminum radiator into Shag with a mechanical fan. A 2" fan spacer is almost perfect but no cigars. The lower portion of the blades are too close to the lower portion of the radiator. I need 1.5" plus inches but really dont like the idea of using a 1/2" spacer stacked on top of a 1" spacer, so my Ferrari mechanic neighbor told me to remove the current 2" spacer and bring it over to his shop.

Once he chucked it up onto his lathe, he gave me some simple instructions on how to operate the lathe and let me go at it. This was the first time I ever ran a lathe and boy was it a blast. I basically chopped the 2" spacer down to 1 5/8" which brought the fan exactly half way into the shroud.

yeah, shop equipment is a blast!! guess thats one reason i don't mind the 12-16 hr days right now, besides the work, it's fun.

I suppose that's the "preferred" way to do things, but stacking spacers isn't all that bad:p As long as you don't have like 5 1/2" spacers stacked together.
