Father/son cruise...

My son is visiting from college and was helping me with my car today... and suggested we go for a cruise. My car has only been driven a few miles and I am still shaking it down - it is road worthy and legal but far from complete. My son suggest a cruise down the coast highway with him following in his 69 Mustang that we restored together 6 years ago. So we took off for about a 10 mile cruise along the coast in San Diego, me in my Torch Red 69 Mach 1 with no interior and him in his Acapulco Blue 69 Coupe with Sports Appearance package - It doesn't get much better than this as a dad who loves Mustangs...

I could not really tell being in the lead but he said that everyone was stopping and watching us cruise past. People were pointing and talking to each other as we went. When we were off the coast highway I heard my son chirp his tires behind me as we took a corner... I was on the straight ahead of him at about 25 MPH and decided it was time to punch it and see if I met my goals...
:)

Cruising at 25 MPH in second and gave it maybe 1/3 throttle and lit up both tires; tried it a second time just to be sure! According to my son just a weight transfer and smoke from the tires - nothing else. My goals were an aggressive choppy idle and the ability to fry tires at will. Mission accomplished!

Hope you all are having as good a weekend!

Yes, father/son cruising is something to reflect upon. Joe and I try to get out, but it's not enough. We cruised down to AL for the 45th show in '09 and several shorter trips locally.

Aside from the fun I find myself looking at him driving and thinking back to his younger days. It's always a good time.

:lol

Sorry guys, I know the rules but there were no cameras involved!

I'll try to make it up to you though... I got a call from UPS that 4 boxes are scheduled to be delivered today requiring a signature.

The car is getting "new shoes" and if they come before I have to leave for the airport I'll slap them on and take pictures to post.

Better get home early! We dont want to have to :ban you....

You can't fool me - if I were going to be banned it would be for haggis, and more specifically for posting a picture of it!
