Yet another weird snag in putting the car back together. The reman starter we got from Advance Auto Parts says it takes 3/8" bolts. Using those they fit snugly (like they should) into the bolt holes on the starter. Going under the car to the bellhousing, that takes 5/16" bolts. The 5/16" bolts shake around inside the starter bolt holes (like you would expect).
Is the starter incorrect? It fits up there and looks like it mates up with the teeth of the flywheel. I see no fitment issues other than the bolt hole issue. The car is a 428. Should I just get some of those hole shims to bring it down to the right size or are there other issues at play here?
