FedEx Blunder

So i broke down and ordered the mig / plasma deal Darrel posted about. After a slight back order, my items shipped from eastwood on the 28th and were do here today. Fedex received the order in two separate packages. Apparently Eastwood shipped one through ground, and the other in the residential ( i still dont understand that, but Eastwood is now closed until tuesday). Well, to make a long story short the ground guy dropped off the mig, i met him at the truck as i was on baby duty today, so we were literally glued to the front window waiting for the trucks. Tracking says they were both delivered, two hours apart, and left at the front door. My plasma cutter was the other package, and never arrived. I called fedex immediately and opened a claim. They say its pending the results of an investigation.

Did anybody ever go through anything like this? Do i have a chance of seeing this item ever?

Man i just feel like i need to break somebody. / :soapboxrant

There are two FedEx Ground delivery systems: residential and business. When someone ships an item, the FedEx computers usually do a good job of catching a residential address vice a business address. The two systems do not use the same truck or driver, and often times use different warehouses.

Business ground is cheaper than residential ground, presumably because the business driver knows most of the local businesses; residences are more likely to take time to find.

I definately would contact both places monday---hard to stay calm but I bet it will work out or show up.

Well, i called fedex again this morning, when i specifically asked, they wouldn't tell me where it got delivered but said they had located it and i should have it today. At 4 o'clock i still hadn't received it so i called again. They said they were unable to pick it up b/c they were too busy today, i can expect it wednesday. I told them it was unacceptable and asked again where it was. Was it even in the correct state, was it in my area. After A LOT of back and forth, it turns out it was delivered to a residence 3 parallel streets away with the same house number. The people that received it called fedex and notified them of the mistake yesterday. If they hadn't i doubt they would have found it. FEDEX = COMPLETE IDIOTS. I picked it up myself.
