Fire close to home

This picture was taken by the backyard. The fire was started less than a mile from home, when a transformer exploded. Our neighbor said that he saw the flames right after is was started from his house. It went from 10 acres to over 1200 acres in a couple of hours. It's now about 40% contained.

All the roads around us were closed. But I know a back way in through an access road that didn't have a sheriff sitting at yet, just a locked gate. I had the wife drop me off there and I was able to make it home in case we had to get out with the dogs, cats, and horses. Luckily for us the winds were pushing the fire away from our house. Just keeping an eye on the wind, in case they decide to shift and I have to head back home.

Way too close. Be safe. Praying for rain like Mark is going to the track!

Not to sidetrack too much, but the rain pretty much disappeared after the motor let go in April.

Coincidence????

The rain Gods were just trying to keep your engine from blowing.

Hang in there, Rob!

Send the fender lip roller when things settle down!

Well, the great fire crews got it 100% contained on Saturday. Looking at the fire incident map, the fire was only about .3 - .4 of a mile away from home. Too close for comfort!!!
