Flaring stainless steel brake line?

I have had to clamp the line and the folding blocks in a vice to keep things from moving.

Stainless is a real PIA to flare, I bought some and gave up after a couple attempts. I've seen some nice pneumatic flare kits used on some of the weekend car shows on TV, they seem to work pretty well on stainless.

Same here, I was doing polymer lines and they still slid, chucked it up in the vise and used crescent wrenches to tighten the wing nuts per SellersRodShop - Steve's recommendation. I've never used a hydraulic one like ytou pictured and can't get the pic to blow up big enough to see how it works?

Scratched the lines a little but flared them and the nut pretty much covers the scratched parts. Just watch that it doesn't walk to one side, turn slow and steady or you'll get an oblong flare.

I bought the stainless brake line kit from Classic Tube but have yet to install it. Am sure there will be some mods since I am going with late model master cyclinder and rear disc brakes. The only thing that worries me about heating the line up that hot is that it anneals the steel and removes its hardness. Maybe enven makes it brittle and more subject to cracking and/or breaking off.

Let me know how this works for you, double flaring is difficult enough with regular steel lines let alone stainless.
