man it was a torrential downpour yesterday/last night. my yard is not really sloped correctly for heavy rain. We have a brick retaining wall by the driveway. It acts as a dam and holds a LOT of water, then the water seeps into the garage thru the wall. I was up until 2:30 am this morning and burned up TWO wet vacs but I did prevent the water from getting too far into the basement. Some water seeped into the laundry room though. Spent the day today pulling just about everything out of the garage to clean up the rest of the water and remove all the wet stuff. On the plus side I did need to clean my garage anyway!
It's not raining now but there are flash flood warnings until tomorrow morning. They are calling for more T-storms, could be a long night.

Sounds like down here ( without the basement issue ). At least one major downpour a day, not uncommon to have two or three. Grass is lovin' it...me not so much.

Only one little rain....come on now. Try a week's worth plus.... The gulf must be full because the water stopped running in the ditches around here. My front pond has raised 14"....dropped 8".....raised 6"....dropped 5".....on the rise again..... The other 4 ponds are up 15"+ with no relief in sight. Good thing we got the convertible.....easier to paddle.

Heck, my driveway has been a pond, my front yard a marsh, and my back yard a full blown swamp! Until today it's rained here for 16 straight days. I was starting to worry we might see 24 more. Then I was gonna have to answer that question about building an ark!

Thankfully we only got a few minutes of light drizzle today allowing me to finally cut the jungle of grass. There's one area in the backyard I couldn't do though. The grass had gotten over a foot tall. As I was mowing the mower drove into a pond! I kid you not. It's an area about 10 feet wide by about 20 feet long and approximately 6 inches deep in water! I thought I had gotten the mower stuck AND it died! Fortunately I was able to get it cranked and back it out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another good day tomorrow!

I guess that you making up for last year. We sure could use some moisture, we are so dry out here that is is not even funny. The whole Southwest is too dry, just look at the fires they had in Colorado and the 19 that were lost in Arizona.

Fun thing is, I've donned a rain suit and kept working. Telephone work in the rain sucks. At it right now.

I guess we are lucky, its way more than we are used to this time of the year but not as bad as some others i guess. Its funny, last year they cancelled the 4th fireworks because it had been in the triple digits and worried about fire. They had a ban on fireworks and now they haven't been able to have them because its been a washout!

We are still getting rain. Locally about 15-16 inches so far. Just enough break between downpours to allow some run off before the cars start to float.
