Flywheel bolt thread sealant?

Hey I just put on the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, and bellhousing and recalled that the threads need sealed since the holes go through the crank. Does Loctite act as the sealant or do I have to use a combination of thread sealant and loctite? I just used Blue Loctite on the threads and am hoping they act as a sealant. If not I'll pull everything back off and use both loctite and sealant.
 
I have use the Loctite on those bolts for years without a leak.
Mixing a sealer with the loctite may cause problems in curing and leak later.
 
That kind of what I was thinking with mixing the two. I've always heard to use loctite on the flywheel bolts, but then I've heard to use a "thread sealant" and wasn't sure which was which. Thanks for the confirmation :5
 
IIRC, (it's been a while since I install my flywheel) I just used thread sealer and torqued to spec.

That's what I did, but I still have a very small leak coming from the back of the engine somewhere.
 
I use thread sealant and torque to spec, no leaks or loose bolts.
 
While I do use thread sealant on other bolts like the water pump ect, I prefer the Loctite for other locations.

The Loctite will act as a thread sealant also but keeps the bolts from shaking loose too.
And having a flywheel come loose at high rpm is not a pretty sight.
 
Depending on what crank you're using, it may be more of a mute point than you think. I know the Probe cranks are blind holes, so can't leak if they wanted to. Most stock cranks are drilled all the way through the crank case.

Since I have a Probe crank, I used Locktite only.
