Ford Escape Forum follies

I drop in every once in awhile just to see what's going on with the Escape. I've picked up some nice info since buying the 2014 S model.

What's so entertaining are the threads where people (assuming younguns) are doing all kinds of things, throwing $$ at the cars to improve performance. Really???? You'd actually spend money on a dyno tune on an Escape? The replies to these threads are just as looney. They all seem to think adding 20HP to an Escape is "awesome"

I wish I still had my Aspire so I could boost the HP in that 1/2 liter 4 cylinder engine :D

If you want a fast car, buy a fast car. If you want a roomie, comfortable car to haul stuff...buy an SUV. If you need to haul a lot of weight and trailers, buy a truck. I swear, I don't get the mindset of the masses.

I see the same stuff on the Ford Fusion forum.
Dyno tunes, downpipes, 3" exhaust with muffler delete.

Fer chrisakes people, it's a 4-door family car!!!

They probably all wonder why we spend money on wheels and stereos on old muscle cars, and spend so much time and money restoring rusty old buckets...

I'm going to add some stuff to my new Fiesta so I can opentrack it (stickers and window tinting). I think it will be hilarious when I blow the doors off an M3.

Hotrod mindset. I have a vehicle. I MUST modify it to be better/faster/more attractive/unique. Whether or not any such work make sense or not doesn't matter, some people are just driven to do such.

One of my customers has a Toyota corolla, he asked me how much to install a header and a stage 2 clutch. I asked him if he was planning on racing it, he said no, just a for work and school. It's just what kids do.....

If you want a real laugh just head over to the Corvette forum, all they care about is, "Can my Vette beat a Mustang?"

Ok, I know this will spark some heated debate, but it should be good for a few giggles...
When I bought my Mach In 69 it cost $3800, I still have it. I've always loved it and its been the most reliable car I ever bought. What I really wanted was a Vette but they cost twice as much. What you got for twice as much money was 4 wheel independent suspension, 4 wheel discs, more horsepower and a very stylish and lightweight car with a fiberglass body. My Mach gives the impression of speed- it smokes the tires and is very fun to drive but is not really all that fast. My Vette on the other hand has all the creature comforts us old guys like and while it is much newer, it is also incredibly fast. Arguably if you want the most bang for the buck, buy a Vette; the newer ones have some very impressive technology. I could give you statistics on Stangs vrs. Vettes but theres no point, I love them both. Now it's your turn gentlemen.

Hmm, adding 20HP to an Escape?! Looks like I should stop by those forums as that's what I'm driving right now while Jane's out of commission... :p
