Ford's "Marti" report

I emailed Ford about my Mustang's build spec's and info. They sent me this nice letter. It took a while but I did get it! Nothing I didn't already know but it's cool to have an official document. And it was free! I like free!

Sure,
I actually went to this website, filled out the info and just asked if they could provide any info on the original build and options. They replied with some automated email but eventually I got a real person and and a phone number. The letter showed up a few months after intial contact.

I don't know if it will save some steps, but here is the email that I think got the ball rolling
Dear Craig Borden,

Thank you for contacting the Ford Motor Company Customer Relationship Center regarding your interest to obtain a build sheet for your 1967 Ford Mustang.

We were processing your 999 report when we noticed that the VIN you have provided has only 11 characters. In these instances, the door tag code, which can be found on the driver-side door jam, is also needed. By providing this additional information, we can obtain information such as the body type, engine, seating, interior trim, axle ratio, transmission type, exterior color and the District sales office. If you would prefer to provide this information over the phone, you may call us toll free at 1-800-392-3673 between the hours of 8am and 5pm, local time, Monday through Friday. Hearing impaired callers with access to a TDD may contact us by calling 1-800-232-5952.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused you.

I got my "999" report back in 2001. Comparing your report with mine, my car came down the same assembly line almost a month before yours on June 19, 1967. Looking at your consecutive unit number, there were 5,886 vehicles produced in Dearborn between my car and yours.

So does that mean you got your "999" report a month sooner also?

cool, so Dearborn made almost 6,000 Mustangs a month. Interesting.
 
Dearborn also produced Falcons and Cougars on the same line, IIRC.

So, we have to take you back to the basics........each car produced is set to have a different VIN number.....sheesh......

okay, I mean, so the Mustang, Falcon and Cougar have consecutive VIN #'s? Like 00001 could be a Falcon, 00002 a Cougar, 00003 a Mustang and so on? I thought the consecutive number was unique to the model of car... but as Pete indicates, what do I know!
 
Several models came off the same line. Difference in the VIN would be in the first half of the number.
 
There used to be a pic floating around that showed the mix with a Fairlane in with the Mustangs but I cannot locate it. Maybe someone has it stashed someplace.
