Always on vacation!
Well, I needed to be able to vent this with friends! Thanks to all who work hard on this site to allow us the place to have friends, exchange information, vent when needed, and just plain old have fun!
Anyway, I was in Cali with a HS band for a festival and they did very well, we went to Disneyland and rode the rides and had a great time. On the way home one of the leaders of the group was standing in front of the bus at our fuel stop and she was crying. I walked over, put my arm around her and asked what was wrong. Well, her best friend has passed away. I held her for a minute as she composed herself and continued on.
When I got home, I unpacked, gave my wife the present I got for her in Newport Beach and we talked. Late in the evening the phone rang. It was my Mom, I dread calls from her late at night as I know there is probably something going on with my brother Frank and I am probably not going to like it. Well, sure enough, Frank started breathing fast and panting. This is what happens just before they die. Mom put him on his bed and called the nurse to come over, then she called me. I had her put me on speaker and I told Frank how much I loved him and he took his last breath at 41 years old.
Frank was before ALS a very athletic person, surfing all over the World, riding his Harley and working with me in the prison system. He was at a different prison than I was, but we often talked shop so to speak. His friends have been so good to him, they even started a website for him so people that knew him could keep in touch. He loved it. http://friendsforfrank.com
Well, I am sad he is gone, which is selfish of me since he was suffering so much. He could not take care of himself and had a hard time eating at the end. He could only watch TV from an easy chair all day!
Well, amid the sadness there is joy, he is out there surfing and riding right now, where yesterday he was struggling for a breath of air!
Frank, where ever you are rest in peace and know I love you!
Thanks guys for putting up with this vent!
