I am rebuilding a front supension on a 68 mustang fastback! What is the best way and the best tool to use?

68 fastback? Heck, you're not so bad afterall...:thu

I use an internal spring compressor. Are you going to be removing or installing a spring? No matter what, it's always scary using a spring compressor, especially with coils that need to be compressed a lot.

If you are installing a 1" drop spring, you may be able to install it w/o using a coil spring compressor. Loosen & remove the sway bar link from the lower control arm and push the knuckle assembly all the way down, this gave me more than enough clearance to pop the spring in w/o a compressor. To complete the install, place a jack under the control arm and slowly jack up until the spring is just barely snug in its seat, checking regularly, then reattach the sway bar link to hold it up.
