fuel line from mechanical pump to carb

Should it be metal, or is a steel braided hose ok? I had a -6an braided line on before, but read about possible issues (its been to long to remember what), and changed to a 3/8 hard line some time ago. Tonight, the damn line had a little wet fuel spot so i tried to tighten it and it poured everywhere. So now my memory is to fuzzy to know if i should replace it with another hard line, or put the braided line back on? :shrug

Since I assume the pump is bolted to the block, I don't see why a hard line wouldn't be the way to go.

A braided line is fine provided the inner hose is appropriate for fuel and the unit itself is rated high enough to withstand the pressure (which a braided line would certainly accomplish).

No issues with running a braided line. Thousands of cars out there running braided fuel lines. I think in your situation it comes down to which one looks the best to you and if you are willing to spend the extra cash for the braided line and fittings.

I bent up a 3/8" hard line. That was 10 years ago and it never leaks.

+1. I really think a hard line in that area is so much better (cleaner) looking as compared to a rubber or braided line.
