Fuel vs Oil rubber hose

Though this particular application is for my Chebbie truck, figured us Mustangers might learn or know the answer. Can you use high pressure fuel hose on a oil application and vise versa? One of my local shops said that if you use a high pressure fuel hose on a oil application such as motor or transmission, the oil will cause the fuel line to swell. And same goes using say a power steering hose in a fuel application.

True or was he smoking some of that wacky tabacky? I'm quite certain that when I installed Red's AOD external oil cooler that I probably used some fuel injection hose.

When I was running the C4 in the fastback, I was using rubber fuel line between the cooler and the trans and never had any problems. And that same cooler line is now in use in Sabrina's car...the hard lines were a problem to remove when we did the trans swap...never had any luck trying to loosen those lines without crimping them. Again, no problems. And IIRC, the return line on her power steering is fuel line.

You can use it as long as you're OK with disrupting the space/time continuum.

I had heard you can use a fuel hose for an oil application but not an oil hose for a fuel application, due to fuel's more-corrosive properties than oil. BS? I'm not sure.

Fuel hose is not oil resistant and it will soften over time. It might work for now, but it's not a great idea long term. Also, fuel hose is not rated to a/t cooler specs. A/T hose is rated to something like 300F and is oil resistant. The Gates book I have at work has listings of all of the things various hoses are resistant to.

You're probably not going to blow up a hose immediately, but I wouldn't rely on it.

Same here.
