Gluing roofside weather stripping in place

It's been awhile since I did Red but my plan is to first put into place just to make sure it fits and even out the tension through out it's entire length. Make little sharpie pen marks for reference on both the WS as well as the channel.

Remove and coat both the WS and channel with a nice thin layer of WS adhesive and let dry well.

Reinstall WS lining up the sharpie pen marks.

Pull away 6+ inches of WS and apply another thin layer of adhesive to the WS and immediately apply to the channel.

Work my way down the line until done.

Sounds good?

Yup. Be sure to clean the weatherstrip first before applying the glue.

Yes I forgot to list that very crucial step. The amount of mold release wax or powder they use will never allow any adhesive to stick.

After cleaning the rubber weatherstrip I scuff the edge that get's the adhesive with an 80 grit sanding pad. I don't believe it's crucial to create a strong bond, but it's just one of those things I've always done.

Yep, what everyone else said. I had particular problems along the tight curve near at the back of the glass. I had to redo one side because I didn't have the WS strip clean enough. Clean, scuff and clean again before you do any gluing.

What product is used to clean the weatherstrip before the gluing? Laquer thinner?

I used wax and grease remover. The stuff you use to wipe down a car before spraying paint.
