Going to New Orleans

So I have to got to New Orleans on Monday for a 4 day suicide prevention instructors course for the Marine Corp. Is there anything I should try to do while I am down there? I have never been to Louisiana before. I should be out of class by 5:00 any sites/restaurants I should check out?

Depending on Sunday's outcome it could be a little nuts down there. Well more than normal. :lol fd

Can't help ya much. I don't remember much about anything in New Orleans except every single freakin' place serves alcohol 24 hours a day. Just don't pee in the trashcan in front of the window at the slushy bar 'cause the guy won't let you use the restroom. They don't like that too much. Yeah, it could be real crazy Sunday evening.

Definately have the jambalaya down at the French Quarter...along with a few drinks. :craz

Get a PoBoy. Matassa's makes good ones on Dauphine St. Also get some beignets at the cafe Du Monde. If you like coffee with chickory in it, they also serve that. Nothing like a strong cup of coffee and a plate of beignets! MMMMMMM Comfort food!

+1 on beignets at the cafe Du Monde also a famous Pat O'Brien's Hurricane can't be avoided. Some goooood seafood at Ralph & Kacoo's is "the seafood restaurant" in the French Quarter.

Now that they have won the super bowl , you are on the right place to see the madness!!!

I'm back.
What a dump. That place sucked. I got roped into driving a couple guys over the river to see the saints parade and got stuck in 6 hours of traffic to drive a couple miles. I ended up kicking them out and driving( I use this term loosely)back to the motel. The streets there are a joke. No one really follows the rules of the road. I was craving BBQ and was hoping that the south would have some good food and I was not impressed at all. I have been to third world countries that were more fun.

New Orleans is most probably still feeling the after-effects of Hurricane Katrina. Businesses will slowly come back in. Saints winning is a bonus.
