Good news, my carb is done and ready to pick it up.

Bad news, my cousin un-employed, un-married passed away Wednesday night and I am the only family member willing to pay for a funeral and service.

Sorry for the rant, really just not happy at the moment over the whole deal. Not just because I cannot pick up the carb at the moment mind you.

Sorry for your loss---If I were in a similar situation I would not hesitate to have a cremation service with a celebration of life service at a church---that is my wife and my plans--no marker or burial. If anyone in the family doesn't approve I would tell them when they are paying they can choose.

Sorry for your loss Chris.

I agree with Rod too. Unless there was a specific request to do a burial, I would go with the cremation. It sounds creepy but they do rent caskets to have a viewing and service. It's what we did when my dad passed.

I paid for a cremation, no service that alone was $700

Now his girl friend that has no money is asking about a service. So, I set up an account for donations and asked his 300+ facebook friends to go to the bank and donate $5 each. At the end of today there is $45 in the account. That includes the $25 that I put in to open the account.

I am not going to stress about it. If there is no money for a service then that's the way it is.

I would suggest to try your local church--if you involve a funeral home director it gets expensive fast, my mother died in 2003---she made all her arangements in advance---they stuck her for over 8 grand for a middle ground service.
