Good sipping drink

1 gallon glass jug with lid
Handle of your favorite whiskey
1 lb fresh strawberries
1 cup sugar

Slice strawberries into small enough pieces to slide into opening of glass jug.
Insert strawberries into jug.
Add sugar.
Add whiskey until you run out of whiskey or you almost fill jug. Leave some room at the top.

Shake jug thoroughly.

Put jug aside, preferably somewhere you won't be tempted to drink it too soon. Shake weekly for about a couple months.

Put jug aside for 6-12 months, preferably 12.

Pour strawberry flavored whiskey over ice and serve. Only a sissy would cut it with water or other mixer. It will be so smooth after 12 months it will go down like coolaid.

When the whiskey is all gone and all you have left are strawberries, remove strawberries from jug and serve over vanilla ice cream.

Wash jug and start over.

sounds good. only problem is the wait. will it work if you add the strawberries & sugar to the glass jug & then drink the whiskey while you wait? :craz

Well technically you can drink it anytime, but you won't get the full flavor effect. My suggestion would be to let the whiskey in the bottom of the handle hold you over for a an hour or two until you can get out to the store to buy some more to hold you over until the strawberry mix is ready.

Updated with pics...

Actually, looking at the full to empty ratio, and $5 off right now at the exchange, time to go pick up a few more...

Well, I made it 3 weeks without taking a little nip. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. A little on the sweet side right now, but that will fade with time. The strawberries are almost completely sapped of color. Took a pic per the rules, will post it in a little bit.

i was signing on to ask about the color if thats normal. I made this about a week ago, and they are pretty white now. Started out real dark ripe red. Smells wonderful. :10

Im doing the same thing with mediocre brandy and bing cherries. I dont add sugar, let soak a year, cherry flavored sippin' liquor (cherries are good with ice cream and choco sauce.

Well, I'm sad to say we didn't quite make it a year. One jug is already gone and the other is not far off.

Next time I'm going to have to make like 4-5 jugs. And I need to get in the habit of doing this every 3 months or so such that in a year I always have a fresh supply of appropriately aged mix.

well, i made it a year plus, and its amazing if i do say so myself. My wife who is a wine person, even likes it. For what its worth though, she says it's like strawberry rubbing alcohol. lol. Thanks Sig.

I plan on making a batch (as soon as I round up a gallon jug) and pop it open in a year to the day and have a drink with Sam.

Just mixed up a batch of Sam's sippin whiskey today per his recipe. I look forward to cracking it open in a year and 2 days and raising one (or more) high in Sam's memory.
