It is a decent one, not big $, but I like to look at stuff under it, I got a live fly from the window sill that was near death---that thing was spooky, they have lots of hair on them, salt is neat, chalk also, I am growing something in a petri dish out of bread and water, I had one as a kid but it was hard to use--I would recommend one for pre teens, can't hurt, anything to keep them off of the games for a while!

Got the grandaughter a microscope for christmas--I love it!

Those are fun. I had one when I was a kid. My daughter is 3 and we took her to a museum in Charlotte and they had a while bunch of stuff set up to view under microscopes and she loved it. Might get her one for her birthday in March. I'm just afraid she'll try to stick the cat under there.

There's a diatomaceous earth mine not too far from here. It's pretty neat to look at the little diatoms under a microscope.
