Got to drive a Nissan GTR last night!

My best friend's brother bought one a couple of months ago, and last night I got to take 'er for a little spin. Its a real beast, and yet its not. The cornering is totally flat at any street speed short of going to jail, and when you open up the taps, 480 bhp makes it astonishingly fast, yet there is hardly any temperment in normal day-in-day-out driving. The only criticism that I could find is that even on the softest suspension setting, the springing is rather stiffer than I might like for a daily driver, which is what this one is going to be. Otherwise, its as livable as my GTI. Amazing.

BTW, I will probably get to take this one to the cones sometime this summer. My observation is that supercars generally don't make very good autocrossers--after all, if its going to be stable at 120, it more than likely will have a pretty good push at 40--but it should be a good time anyway. We will pick a really big site with lots of run-off room and no light poles to run into for the first outing.....

If I had unlimited resources, that's definitely on my short-list.

And so let me get this straight...not only will you go racing in "someone else's car" but "someone else's SUPERCAR?"

THAT could be pretty awesome!! :weas

Too bad it never happened. :WOP

Sorry, I didn't have the digital with me and I'm not a camara-phone kind of guy. Hell, I hardly ever even use SWMBO's Tracphone. I'll try to get pics when we go cone-dodging this summer. Until then, the written word will just have to do.

Yup, that's what it will be. My friend's brother is one of those rare souls who happens to make more money than God and yet is incredibly sharing. Even before he took delivery, I was expressly invited to solo this car.

The NWORSCCA Solo schedule is up on the web site, but the locations are not yet finalized. We undoubtedly will have a couple of events on the wide concrete expanse of Toledo Express Airport, and that is where we intend to do this--nothing to hit but cones there.....I will update when the schedule is set so anyone who wants to see me make a fool of mys-----I mean, take on this challenging car can come watch. Please note that my usual Solo ride is my HS Mazda 3, which is about as unlike a Nissan GTR as you can get.
