GPS performance meter?

back in the late 80's or early 90's my dad had the gyro thing (I think it was called a Vericom) that would measure 1/4 time, 0-60 and stuff like that. I seen an app for the iphone that will do the same thing. Anybody here have something like that?

I have one called "Pocket Dyno" but haven't really tested it yet. Finding a good 1/4 mile in Atlanta where I can stretch the legs (even of my V6-5spd camry) isn't exactly easy. I've found a perfect spot, but haven't had the perfect traffic yet...well not true, I did once, but couldn't get the phone ready in time. One day though.

I've heard from some of my performance driving buddies that the iphone app works really well. Maybe not dead accurate, but it gets you in the ballpark.
