Grandma at the Airport

All this TSA security checks are all a show. It makes the politicians feel like they are doing something and presents a security front to the world. But it is all for naught really. All one needs to do is fly out of a non-TSA airport. No security checks what-so-ever. The flight takes you to a major airport where you can now be behind security with your bags and luggage.

On the other hand if there were absolutely no security checks at airports and a plane gets bombed with your family on it I'm sure you would be the first to scream 'where was the security?'. This is a situation which can never satisfy everyone. If grandma or anyone needs to be checked at the airport to prevent your family from being dead...I think you'd accept that.

The above is absolutely correct. Security measures are in place right now to placate the public and allow the leadership of the government to have some plausible deniability in the event of another attack.

I have a buddy who used to be a baggage handler in college. Not long after 9-11, he was traveling with his dad, and no longer worked for the airlines, but still knew his way around Dulles in DC. He told me about taking his dad (a professional security consultant) around security and doing so not even having an employee badge anymore.

And given the recent pilot who posted a video to youtube pretty much showing the same thing, nothing has changed in the past 10 years regarding employee checkpoints, or lack thereof.
