Grant steering wheel install?

Does anyone have any instructions how to install one? I've looked online but can't seem to find detailed, step-by-step instructions.

I took several pictures when I took the wheel off, but now I can't find them. :hide So I have no clue how to put my steering wheel back on.
Here's the pieces I have.

Pretty sure this will cover it... They can be a pain to go together sometimes, I tape the spring to the horn button to make it a little easier to install.

Thanks, that helped!

Looking at the instructions... and then trying to install my wheel... well, doesn't look like it's going to happen that easy. Seems there is a huge gap between the column and the hub. I don't recall it being like that before. :shrug

without the hub..

Here's some of the pictures from before. The gap wasn't that big before. Maybe the steering column itself needs to move up? But wouldn't that leave a gap down near the steering box?

Almost looks like the housing has slipped down the column. Again....old mans memory here but the column cover may slide up if loosened from the dash.....

Looks like a spring is missing. It may push the center button out a little. It holds the contacts apart so the horn doesn't blow all the time. Was it with the kit?

I have a spring. It just wasn't in the picture. Oops.

Everything I took off is what was on it before I took it all off. It also had no horn on the steering wheel itself. PO had an aftermarket cheap horn taped to the top of the steering column and the horn only worked when the drivers door was open. No joke.

I moved the housing up towards the hub to lessen the gap between the two... but then there is a huge gap (about an inch or so) down near the steering gear box. After looking more closely, it seems I need to replace that insulator that goes between the column and gear box. Also thinking about it, I dont want to mess with this grant wheel. I'm just going be really nice to the husband and see if he'll just let me buy a new steering wheel. I hate the Grant 414 Challenger one I have. It's too small - 13". Makes it a pain to turn the wheel with no power steering so I want to go 15" and more of a classic 3 spoke look.

Ha.. I touch his junk all the time. How do you think I convince him to let me spend $ on my '66? :roll

I guess we know who's gonna be gettin' some. :yah :peter :part

I had problems installing mine and the horn not working properly. I was on another forum and several were complaining about the Grant wheel. One of the Grant execs was on there and installed one himself in their shop. I have his emails, instructions, and diagrams somewhere, I think. If you still need it PM me your email address.

I hate both my Grant wheels!

The one on the 67 the horn button always falls off! The one on the 65 interferes with the turn signal switch.

For me I will likely have two grant wheels for sale at some point!

My installation kit came with little foam blocks instead of the spring... but the horn button still fell off. Fixed it with a few little dabs of clear silicone adhesive. No worries since.

The Grant's OK, but eventually I am putting the stock wheel back in. If I can ever make myself spend the money to restore it!
