Gt40 heads

I was trolling Craigslist and came across this listing.

What do you guys think of these for a stock 302. Is it a good deal and will they work? Or is there something else i should look at?
I am pretty sure my heads on my original engine are in need of rebuild our replacement.

Those aren't a bad head, but there are tons better out there. You can usually find a set of 170 twisted wedge for a few bux more. I don't think you'll find a better head than the twisted wedge, the 170 castings can be cnc'd to 205cc if you every want more.

But again, for a stock style build the gt40's in aluminum aren't bad. Comparable to a Eldebrock head or so.

Thanks Bill.

I am not doing a monster build. I was planning to maybe do an edelbrock intake and heads. Trying to keep it under a budget.

The cast iron versions of the gt40's like what came on the cobra's, lightnings, and 96-7 explorer are a decent budget head also. I sold the last couple sets I've had for 200-300 bux.

Here's a set http://www.ebay.com/itm/SBF-Ford-GT40-C ... f6&vxp=mtr

Stay away from the p heads because you could run into header clearance with their odd spark plug angle.

For the money though those ally gt40's aren't bad.

99% of the time you can't run 2.02" intake valves without larger valve pockets in your pistons. The exception being Twisted Wedge where the intake valve has been moved. Your best bet is a 1.90" intake inline head like an AFR165 or Edelbrock E-Street, or a Twisted Wedge 170 like Bill recommended. The TW is probably the best bang for your buck.

BTW, those aren't GT-40 heads in the ad, they are some no name brand. Probably why they are so cheap.

Yep, those look to be the Procomp heads Alex at Moneymaker Racing has been selling for $700.

My son has a pair on his 89 GT.
