Headman....88406....ceramic coating, 18 ga. or #88408...thermal coating, 14 ga. The ceramic are $130 or so more.

I read all the time that the ceramic is the better one but what is it with the thermal coating? Heavier gauge metal is good but..... DOinf research for possible replacements for the long tubes that are dragging on every excited piss ant on the road.....

it's a great investment.
given the choice, I would never have another set that wasn't ceramic coated.
on painted ones, the paint burns off immediately and you're faced with ugly, rusty pipes.

I remember doing some research in this area a couple years ago. From what I can figure, Hedman has developed their own type of "ceramic coating" that they are calling their Heat Thermal Coating (HTC).

Check this out Pete.....

Ceramic coated headers have a 5 year warranty on the coating.

And I just found this on the Hedman website.....

ELITE Hedders are backed by a lifetime warranty against manfufacturing defects, and the durable coating is gauranteed for 5 full years.

Either way, you're getting a 5 year warranty on the coating.

Pete, I have the 88408 headers on my convertible. Fit is excellent as is the build quality. I first bought a set of Sanderson headers but didn't like where they dumped on the driver's side. Too close to the P/S lines for my liking. For the money, I think the Hedman Elite is a good value.

Not necessarily. I stripped the factory paint off my Hookers and repainted them with silver hi-temp BBQ paint and they still look great 5+ years later.

Time is not as important as miles driven.............

I did ceramic coating on my FPA headers and they look brand new after almost four years. The ceramic coating also noticeably reduced the engine compartment heat. I recommend it.

There's at least 5k on the headers, including a handful of 8 hour trips.
