Heater Hose Connection Orientation??

Do you guys think it really matters which hose from the engine connects to which port on the heater core? I think the hose from the intake is supposed to connect to the bottom port and the hose from the water pump is supposed to connect to the top port, but what would it really hurt to connect them the other way around? Seems like it would simplify the connections. Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks.
Mark

As long as the top heater core hose is not connected to the bottom heater core hose......lol.... Either way will work unless you are a perfectionist....

One way, you are pushing water from the bottom to the top of the core, the other way it is from the top to the bottom.

Just in case someone wants the Ford way...

I think it'd only matter if you have A/C, as they had a vacuum operated shutoff valve that prevented hot coolant into the heater core while the A/C was on....more so on the later cars and am not sure if they had such a thing on the early cars.

No AC to worry about. Thanks. I think I'm just going to put the top hose to the top port and be done with it. Thanks all.

Routing the coolant exit line from the top of the heater core will make it easier for any air bubbles trapped in the heater core to flow out.

I know my reply is a few months late, so unless the OP works at my pace (slower than a snail) he's already finished his installation.
