With all the rain and floods and mudslides..I hope everyone out in California is safe and sound
News we see is awful.....If you need to evacuate to Connecticut...you're welcome here

Thanks for asking. All is soggy, but good out here in the Central Valley. My neighborhood drains consist of rock wells, so all the gutters flooded. Also the 60 y/o cedar tree in my backyard is still standing, it's about 40-45 feet high and was swaying big time during yesterday's winds.

Still above water out here on the central coast. Yesterday was really nasty, including lightning/thunder storms, 45mph winds, a fair amount of hail (unusual for this region), and several inches of rain. I swear we got 2 inches in about 30min yesterday morning. Several of the streets in the middle of town were flooded during the day, and there were coastal flood warnings for about 5am this morning due to incoming tides and outgoing water.

All that said, I dealt with worse in the valley growing up. Everything's hilly out here, giving water a place to go. The valley is flat, so entire neighborhoods flood out when the drains can't carry everything away. A few years ago, there was severe flooding around the delta when water levels went way up and a couple levee walls failed. I remember driving around out there and seeing a lot of land and several houses under 10 feet of water. I think one of the islands is still completely unfarmable due to saltwater contaminating the soil.

I'm in Phoenix, AZ for the MCA Board of Director's meeting Friday and Sunday, with a trip to Barrett-Jackson on Saturday. I arrived at 1:30 PM with rain and gusty winds at the airport. Sure enough, 1 hour later, Sky Harbor airport shut down until at least midnight. Is the Curse of Midlife that great?

Anyway, on the news tonite: tornado warnings, watches, and flooding of streets all throughout Phoenix, and some rivers are expected to flood (Sedona). Some highways have been shut down due to snow at the higher elevations.

Expectations are for continued nastiness through Sat. morning. Ugh.

It's been crazy around here, parts of Long Beach are under water. At one point on Tuesday we got almost an inch of water an hour. It's been very windy and rain seems to go sideways. We can't wait till it's over. We had two water spouts and actual tornado warning in Huntington Beach yesterday.

Hopefully we will be out of a drought this year. I miss the 70 degrees and sunshine.

Midlife, you left the same weather here this am. We had tornado warnings, rain, wind, flooding, and all the fun stuff. Looks like the curse has gone nation wide. 6" in 7 hours.

I have recently discovered two leaks in my bedroom and one in my son's closet so tomorrow and or Sat the roofing company is coming out to patch the roof. This means that I am not going to the infamous NorCal Poker night. Maybe next year Johnpro will
pick a dryer weekend for such an event.

All blue skies and sunshine here, NOT..... :beat :lol :lol

Of course here they complain about rain...too much, flooding, will make the grasses grow and we will have a terrible fire season. If it doesn't rain.....we need water. nothing is growing. Can't please people.

Up here in the northern valley, the rain is a welcome sight. Need to fill up the reservoirs, so that everyone south of us has water this comin' summer. But I could do without the 60-65 mph gusts. Digger pines have a very shallow root system -- heavy rain plus heavy winds have a tendency to blow 'em over, and normally take out power lines...

suppose to be 70 and sunny here today, drove the Stang to work...... :weas

Hey I drove the mustang today in rain. It's the only ride I have right now.

We got snow.

Um, Craig make sure you have a fire extinguisher handy when the roofer is there. The guy down the street was having a leak fixed and the guy needed to use a torch for something and caught an old bird's nest he didn't see on fire and by the time he could get a hose up there it took out a huge part of the house and we had four fire trucks and a bunch of people out there. they can fix the damage, but in the mean time the people are renting a place in Cedar City 20 miles away. Now 1/2 way into fixing it it started to snow.

Man my heart goes out to them.

Be careful!

Around here, we call that February.

Good luck to all out that way.

I know all so well. I was stationed in South Florida and central Louisiana when I was in the Air Force. I did I ever see some rain during that time. What we get here is nothing compared to what I experienced in the south. But you have to remember that is part of our 4 seasons; fires, floods, mud slides and riots. :craz The morons around here build their homes on a hillside and wonder why their homes slide down the hills during a higher than normal year of rainfall. Or the idiot at the bottom of the hill that gets his house buried in mud. So far from what I have seen on the news is that the mud slides have been minimal so far. If we were to get another series of storms like the ones we just had before things dry out then we will be in trouble. But the thing is that we need the water from the rain. fd

They're currently pouring massive amounts of :$$$ into trying to save an apartment building in Pacifica from falling into the ocean. I'm waiting for the news that they've failed. :amaz
