Hit the jackpot with the Coinstar machine

I've made it a habit to check the Coinstar machine at the supermarket whenever I'm there. The other day I scored a generous handful of change: $4.46 in US coins and a bunch of foreign coins, including 32 euro cents and 1 pound 67 pence in English coins.

I thought the coinstar was to cash in your coins, not get more...

My new job takes me to some of the finer parts of town :sarc and the supermarket usually has one up in front being used. I will assume mostly by pan handlers cashing in a days work.

Crusty, your post was a reminder to bring my coins in for some useable cash. The coinstar machine only kicked back a silver 1964 dime and a car wash token. Both are keepers.

I throw all my change in a jar when I get home at night, then cash it in when it gets full. Usually around $200 bucks. Often get gift certificates (no coinstar fees), and use those for purchases I would make anyway. You could cash them in for green to pay for Mustang parts also...

I accumulate my coins all along in a bag in my desk drawer. When it starts getting pretty full I cash it in for green stuff to buy Mustang and / or TA parts.

That 1964 dime is worth $3.38 as I type.
