holley 600 carb on 289 cant get it to idle, the motor fires right up when i pour fuel down carb ,the fuel pump is working ok could a vac leak or blocked jets etc cause this?

How long has the carb been sitting? Before taking it apart you could try spraying some gumout down the vent tubes on the front and rear bowls and let it sit over night...

car has been sitting for about 2 yrs

Yep, spray and let it soak some. It could be pretty gummed up inside. No matter what, I bet it will need pulled apart and cleaned to get it right.

Would an ultrasonic bath do the job ?? (cleaning the inside of the carb for all the dirthy minds )

Doing a bath may help, But the gunk will still cause problems as it has to go somewhere.
A simple teardown and cleaning is the best way to insure it works correctly.
Todays gas is crap and after sitting for 2 years it gone bad for sure.
