Has anyone bought a new car battery lately?

I noticed the Explorer this morning and when leaving for lunch was pretty hard to start...thought I might have to jump it. The battery in it was 3 years old so I headed to O'Reilly.

I just bought a battery for the Mustang back in November and paid about what I would have expected. I think that one was $50 or $60 at O'Reilly.

Today, the battery for the Explorer cost $108. I asked the guy if they had gone up a lot recently and he just nodded and said "yeah, they sure have gone up, alot".

Ouch...I forgot to bring my personal lubricant.

At least I didn't have to pay the $12 deposit. The guy knew I was replacing the battery in the parking lot so he didn't make me mess with going through line again.

I know that the price of lead (and pretty much every other metal) has skyrocketed in the past few years. So, I'm not surprised that the cost of batteries have gone up...

I just bought a battery for the Exploder from Autozoo for something like $75, and a 7 year warranty.
