Hood Hinge rebuild?

Has anyone come up with a good DIY hood hinge rebuild process? I know there are services that do it for $$$ and I could buy repops but I doubt they'll be as stout as the stockers and I haven't been impressed with some of the repop stufff I've seen for longevity/thickness. I'd rather recycle my stock ones and save some $ if i can.
Is the a way to drill out the rivets and replace with brass bushings and/or special bolt/nuts? There's got to be a way of replacing those rivets, maybe a shop that does something similar? My hinges had the normal looseness to the rivets where the hood sat up 1/2" to 1" in back.
Thanks, Jon

The last set of aftermarket hinges I tried was crap. They had more slop in'em than the ones I was going to replace. I was able to refurbish my original hinges by using a tapered punch, heat, hammer and large vice to re-swell the pins enough so that there were no up and down movement. The hood now closes perfacto and mantains the correct and steady plane when closed.

I give the rivets a good smash with a hammer ( top of rivet is resting on an anvil and i give the other side a smash with a hammer ) so the "play " will reduce and then I weld the rivet on one side with its attaching arm. I weld the bottom of the rivet ( where its been stamped )

Thanks for the ideas guys, I originally tried to smash the rivets but the only anvil I have is the backside of my vise so there's not enough room to get all the rivets to sit flat, guess I'll need a real anvil so I can sit them all flat.

Rich, I looked on your website but could only find hinges with shocks, i didn't see the scott drake ones?
