hood hinges or springs?

Working on my 67 Olds..Yeah Yeah not a Mustang..The hood will slowly close unless I prop it, It does not just drop but will close non the less after a minute or two. Is it the springs or the hinges?

Springs. They get weak with time.

Or it could be the hinges, if they are really out of whack, which would affect the spring extension, which in turn, affects spring strength.

I would have to guess springs also, it seems like the hood would be hard to close if they were binding with rust or other issues, I have never owned many old gm's but I remember hood problems on some traded in at the dealership I worked at in the 70's.

I heard that if you remove the pink broom (not necessarily the rider thereof) from under the hood, it might close easier.
