The daughter of a 76-year-old Florida nursing home resident discovered live maggots in his eye socket, the Sun Sentinal reported.

John Stumpp, who lost an eye to cancer, was under the care of the Gainsville nursing home when his eye socket became infected and his daughter, Patrice Ripley, found maggots living in the socket.

“It's absolutely inexcusable," Ripley said. "Quite frankly, I'm angry."

The state is investigating the matter.

Maxcine Darville, the executive in control of the nursing home, could not be reached for comment.

Wow.

But in all honesty, I am not really surprised.

We do a lot of emergency generator additions/upgrades, etc for the life safety systems for nursings homes - which typically requires extensive field work on our part. And we get to see a lot of "stuff" going on that would really surprise you...

Let's put it this way. I never want to be in one.

Wow. And the award for understatement of the year goes to.....

Were that one of my loved ones, let's just say no "Family News" organization would print my quotes.
