How bad is it.

On my 66 with a 302 out of a mercury comet I put a new aluminum intake edelbrock 650 4 barrel still dealing with a few leaks. Oil was all I was worried about. I ran it hard, raced my dad's 68 ss396 Chevelle with over 400 hp with no success, leaked some oil at the back but wasn't till it had cooled down for several hours. But this morning there was a small puddle of antifreeze under the back passenger side of the engine. I can see it on the back flange of my headers and some on the starter. Had to leave work where it's at, but just looking for ideas where to start. Guys at work said pull it and drop a 351 in that would fix it but I looking for some thing cheaper.

Could be nothing more than a coolant leak between the intake and head. Or elsewhere that simple found a path across the engine and dripped down where you saw the puddle. Check to see if you have coolant mixed in your oil. You find chocolate milk when you pull the dipstick then you have problems.

Dropping a 351w into a 66 is not a "simple" fix. Takes a shoe horn to make it fit to start with.

If you have oil and antifreeze mixing, it may be recent enough to not make the chocolate milk visible from the dip stick. Since oil floats on water you could pull the drain plug and see if antifreeze comes out first.

It is likely something simple, like a gasket or something. Check for oil in water or water in the oil.

It also could simply be leaking from a heater hose above the starter/header, assuming those are still connected & not bypassed.

An easy way to find an external leak is to dust some baby powder on where you think it might be leaking. Shows a good trail if it is external.
