I buy and sell wheels like a stock trader lol

So, I sold the 18x8 05 wheels for 3x what I paid for them. I decided that I really want to run the 18x10's out back. From my research this shouldn't be a problem. I decided that I want that staggered look, so I ordered some new 17x8's that match the rears. The rears have 275/35's on them now. They are nearly new so I can't justify buying new right now. In the future I'll go with a 285/40. What tire size should I be looking at to make these match right. I'm thinking 235/45's or maybe 245/45.

What about a 235/40-17. According to what I've researched the 235/40 will have a 3.7 inch sidewall and the 275/35 will have a 3.79 inch sidewall. Am I approaching too low of a profile tire?

I run 275/35/18 on the rear of my car and 225/45/17 up front. The front is slightly taller than what I would like to have but I had to settle for 275/35 out back. I wanted to run 285/40 and had a set on for about 10 miles. The first time I drove in my driveway they go shreaded by my rear fender lip. It wasn't rolled by the body shop like I wanted and destroyed the tire and had to repaind the fender lip. Be very careful if you go with 285/40. I want to go with 285/35 the next time I get tires but I will have the tires store measure for me when it gets to that point.

Well, they have discontinued the 17x8 or 18x8 polished bullitts :char I can't find them used or anything. If anybody knows where a set is LMK.

Anyhow, because I'm so dead set of using the wheels I have for the rear already, I'm thinking of buying two 17x8's in a black finish.

I'm thinking of having my two rears powder coated to match. I found a local guy that will do them for 150. What do you guys think. Should I just ditch the whole idea of running the 18x10's in the rear and opt up for a set of these?

They are chrome and I'm not a big fan of blingy but they fit exactly right.

After seeing Craig's car in person, I like the looks of a polished wheel on these cars. It looks period correct but modern in the same stroke.

What says the group. I know we've been here before and I'm sure I'll be changing my mind again lol.

For those that are wondering what color car...

Everything blacked out, anything that shines will be painted body color.

blacked out looks cool but I personally think the polished wheels on a black car will be bomb (do people still say that?)

uh, thats "da bomb". i think it went out wit "tru dat".... :roll

i like polished wheels, but don't like the time it takes (that i don't have) to keep them up.

Not a fan of the all blacked out look. I think it makes the car look cheap. Conversely, factory chrome and shiny wheels make a black car stand out above all.

do you have a discount tire near you? i checked online & got the best price for my wheels then the local discount tire matched it. they can get many more wheels besides what they list on their website. if you get serious & dont have a discount there, i can check here at mine. i know i'm closer than columbus & could send them to you via "tarafied express" :roll

bet craig loves being volunteered for stuff!! :roul

not a problem, I'm making a voyage out there next weekend and again in August for the Somernights Mustang month cruise-in.

I'm not serious yet. Not sure whether I can swing it. I need to offload some company stock to finish my car, but it's down too low to consider selling right now.

Craig, I'm definitely gonna make it to the cruise this year.

we should have the wife and kids and hang out. The locals all sit in parking lots and watch the cars go by. It could be fun to hang out and watch cars and people!

Well, I've got my deep dish bullitts sold.
I'm gonna pick up the showwheels streeters in polished.

Just need to figure out what size I want to go with. I originally thought 17x7 up front and 18x9's in the rear. I'm going to stay with the 18x9's for the rear and use my Hankook 275/35's. I'm thinking about going to a 18x8 up front because I have 1 matching Hankook 245/40. Should I do this and pick up 1 tire and be good or should I stick to my original plan? Tires are cheaper in the 17's up. 1 Hankook V4 in 245/40/18 is $170ish where I can pick up 2 235/40/17 for $200ish.
