My husband that is.

I didn't get to sleep until about 4am. I woke up to the doorbell ringing at 7:22am. Who the hell rings the doorbell non stop at 7am?! :eek I didn't see any car in the driveway so I wasn't about to get out of bed and open the door in my pj's. I just wanted to snuggle back up with my pillow and go back to sleep. I guess my daughter was awake already and opened the door after seeing it was dad at the door. Minute later he walks in, and says he needs me to get up and get dressed, I need to drive him back to work. He left the car keys in the car last night after he went to get dinner. He had a guy from work drop him off at home which was why no car in the driveway.

:fbomb Fine. I get up, get dressed grab the spare Lexus key and we take Gertrude for an early morning cruise down to his work. When we get there, I see his keys laying on the console in the Lexus.... then I notice the passenger door was UNLOCKED.

So yes, my beauty sleep was ruined and now I'm bitchy today. :po

What is it with men and losing keys? Is it some sort of genetic trait they all share?

I've locked my key in my car exactly one time thank you very much. I also got them back out by myself. I didn't need any wermen's help.

"Where would our hubbies be without us?"

I wouldn't be in debt.

You'd probably have a sore wrist and worn out many Fleshlights. :craz

I havn't locked myself out of the car yet, but when I am leaving in the morning to work I do run in and out of the house like three times just to grab random stuff I forget and remember right before getting in the car. The main item I always forget, loose and find is my wallet.

I have never lost keys. I've had keys locked in a car, but I knew exactly where they were.

Remember, Kat, you married this bozo. So who's the bigger doofus?

I couldn't find my car keys this morning and I was running late for work. Seems that last night I tossed them on SWMBO's dresser, but it was so full of random crap, they were not easily visible. Still her fault, not mine.

Short story: Many years ago I was a tow truck dispatcher for the AAA in San Francisco. I would send trucks out to unlock cars. One night while at the member's car the driver realizes he doesn't have his slim jim kit and asked me to send another truck. I radioed back, "Use a rock," and the driver said "OK, no problem then." Freaked our the member who heard the radio chatter.

Sorry but your episode is no where near as bad as some I've had to deal with. My ex was the queen of lost keys. A few examples...
1- After working the night shift (nurse) she can't find her keys or spare, calls a cab to bring her home and throws a brick through the window in the side door to gain entrance to the house. Upon my return from work some 6 - 8 hours later if find snow blowing in the side door and wonder WTF. I fix the window, we go down to the hospital and pick up her car with my key and return home. The keys slipped through a hole in her coat and were between the outer shell and inner lining.
:po
2- Winter again... she parks the car in a store lot along a fence. Gets out of the car and drops her keys in a drift. Fortunately she has a spare set with her this time as she can't find the keys in the drift. After I get home from work we go back to the lot and search through lots of snow to no avail. Dang... time to replace the locks on the house.
:cry
3- Ex and son return from shopping with a full van. Ex enters house, informs me she has to go back to pick up more stuff (she was one heck of a shopper) and exits to car only to return after five minutes unable to leave as her keys are missing. If I remember correctly I found them a few weeks later when cleaning the car lodged between the seat and console.
:sad
As for myself I locked my keys in my 67 Mustang once wayyyyy back in the dark ages but luckily carried a spare.
:wm?

Hey now, I have never lost keys! The only time I loose anything, it is when someone moves it for me or puts it away for me.

You ladies know who that someone is!

We have spare keys for everything, but my wife managed to get around our fail safe system. She locked the keys in the trunk and the spare in the console!

This was on a Lexus and the dealer claimed that the keys were over $100 to repo with the code number, which we had no clue of because they are written on the manual...in the glove box!

The internet in all it's wonderful accuracy stated that the Lexus was jimmy proof so our only option was to break a window or break the trunk open. I ended up jimmying it open despite the internal built in anti theft cover on the latch...so it can and has been done, despite the Lexus PR campaign! What a pain!
