I don't like dentists----

It seems like my teeth have went bad after I turned 50, I have them cleaned, I floss and brush regularly but still problems, I broke one near in half last friday afternoon, went to the dentist this morning and he pulled out upper back left wisdom tooth, and the moler in front of it(he had to do some cutting on the moler) I blew off work and kind of wish I had something stronger than he prescribed for the dull throb!---I really don't like going to the dentist.

I with ya on that one. Can't stand the dentist. I had the same thing about 4 years ago. Wisdom tooth cracked my bottom left molar in half. I walked around with it half broken and Sharp for over a year. I just kept filing it down. Then when I finally went in, they pulled all four wisdom teeth and the broken molar. Not fun.

Dentists are mean, evil, sadistic, SS types. I have NO use for them. My teeth have fared much better when I stay miles away from them. Every dentist is just like the Steve Martin character in Little Shop of Horrors.

So goes my experiences with dentists :char

I actually love going to the dentist (I have good teeth) because the hygenist assigned to me is quite fetching with a great body & pleasant personality. She leans in verrrryy close with a thigh pressed against my shoulder. Ahh, good times.

Working the old man perv angle still doesn't override the sadistic pain inflicted! Dentists are the Debil.

I love going to the dentist. I've never had a cavity. When I sit in the chair and open my mouth the first word out of everyones is WOW. Then the entire staff comes in to see what a 50+yr old mouth with no dental work looks like. They clean my teeth and I come back in six months and do it all over again. Fun times !

My mother is a dentist. I think she's given me some sort of complex, because I absolutely can't stand going to the dentist now. Almost phobia like.

+ a googleplex.

I don't mind the dentist. I've been going to the same practice since 1968 and they have all of my records. The original dentist retired and now the 'new guy' has taken completely over.

I had a lot of dental work early - I broke one of my front teeth riding a bike (2nd grade) and had a silver tooth up to junior year in high school.

I also wore a head gear and braces.

I have terrible dental practices (brush once a day and NEVER floss) and have excellent gums and teeth.

Hmmmph....

Well I like my dentist.

Hey, she looks like my hygienist!

I don't like going to the dentist, I do the toushy two step up the back of the seat. I tolerate it because I know when the horror is all done, I will eventually feel better.

I have a tooth now that will need a root canal and I am so not looking forward to it! I am having a hard time making myself call them and make an appointment!

same here. have had 2 cavities, but were so small, they didnt even have to numb things up, just a light tap of the drill & fill. funny thing is, all my teeth came in crooked & they begged my mom to put braces on me, but she held them off & all my teeth straightened out perfectly. then, when my wisdom teeth started showing up on the "radar" they begged her to get them cut out or they would mess up my pretty, straight teeth. i still have all four of them....

You guys still have your wisdom teeth? Aren't those usually extracted when you are a teen or early 20's?

So, far my teeth and roots are fine. About 10 years ago I had one filling that was first done when I was in my teens replaced due to wear and tear. The rest continue to be fine. I've been going to the same dental practice 2x per year since I was in Jr. High, first the dad and now the son. Both are really good and I am not traumatized by anxiety anticipating my next appointment.
